How do I change my Google Account password?

If you currently know your Google Account password and simply want to update it for security or personal preference, follow the steps below.

If you have forgotten your password and cannot log in, please see How to regain access to your Google account.

Update your Password

Open your Google Account. You might need to sign in.
At the top left, click Security & sign-in.
In the section "How you sign in to Google," click Password.

Enter your new password, then select Change Password.

What happens after you change your password

If you change or reset your password, you’ll be signed out everywhere except:

Devices you use to verify that it's you when you sign in.
Some devices with third-party apps that you've given account access.
