These guides provide simple and quick troubleshooting steps for sites experiencing focus or blurriness issues with a camera connected to a capture kiosk running the LAPP program. (See video below guide 2 for reference of the UI)
Instructions
Guide 1
Using the AF/MF switch on the lens, set the camera to AF (Auto Focus)
Place someone where the guests typically stand for the camera to adjust its focus.
Take a picture with the camera while in AF (Auto Focus).
Change the camera lens back to MF (Manual Focus) and the focus problems should be fixed.
Important
(Remember to switch the lens back to MF when complete, using manual focus eliminates camera delay and ensures faster, more reliable photo capturing.)
Guide 2
IMPORTANT
Guide 2 requires going into the LAPP settings menu (PLEASE DO NOT MODIFY ANY SETTINGS EXCEPT THOSE LISTED BELOW)
To access the LAPP settings, tap 3x in the bottom right hand corner or click ‘F1' or 'S’ on a keyboard to bring up the settings menu.
There will be a settings navigation guide at the top of the menu, click the one that says ‘Camera’.
From there you will select the blue tab that is labeled DSLR, this will bring up the live preview of the ‘Camera.’
The bottom right area of this menu has an area labeled ‘Manual focus’, in this subsection there will be a +/- menu to adjust the focus distance
Have someone stand in the photo area and adjust the +/- (near/far) until the desired/correct focus is reached.
Hit ‘OK’ at the bottom of the screen to close out the software menu.
Important
(After this is complete, remember to close the LAPP settings screen before attempting to scan a card to take a photo. This prevents the program from freezing, which will require a ticket to correct the issue, resulting in a disruption in operations.)
